Our Classical Game Drive takes place mostly in the late afternoon (or in the morning), when the African sun becomes softer and the landscape glows in warm light. At this time of day many animals leave their shelters to search for food and water, offering excellent opportunities for wildlife sightings.
The drive leads through scenic parts of the reserve and provides plenty of time to enjoy the surroundings, take photographs, or observe wildlife through binocular.

Classic Game Drive – A Nature Experience in the Heart of the Khomas Highlands
At Düsternbrook, you can expect an impressive variety of wildlife, observed in their natural habitat.
Some animals can already be spotted from afar – giraffes, for example, stand out clearly against the horizon – while others may come surprisingly close to the vehicle, allowing for truly memorable encounters.
In addition to classic species such as kudu, oryx, giraffe, warthog, impala, springbok, blue wildebeest and baboon, you also have the opportunity to see the endemic Hartmann’s Mountain Zebra in its natural mountain habitat – best experienced during the Morning Game Drive in the hills.
With a bit of luck, you may also encounter Burchell’s zebra (plains zebra) and eland, the largest antelope in Africa. More elusive and less frequently seen are waterbuck and the striking sable antelope. Steenbok, duiker and jackal also form part of this diverse ecosystem.
Around the main house and in the rocky areas of the farm, rock dassies (rock hyrax) are commonly seen, skillfully moving among the rocks.
Our Classic Game Drives take place in the morning or afternoon and last approximately 2 hours. The drives lead through varied landscapes and offer excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing and photography.
Bird enthusiasts will also enjoy their visit: depending on the season, around 250 bird species have been recorded on Düsternbrook, making it an interesting destination for both casual observers and dedicated birders.
The Classic Game Drive can be booked by both day visitors and overnight guests.
For stays of a minimum of two nights, one Classic Game Drive per two nights is included.
