Is Guestfarm Düsternbrook a hotel?
No. Düsternbrook is a private game ranch retreat featuring several double rooms, chalets, and a separate luxury unit called Point of View. It is not a hotel or resort with city-style infrastructure, public access, or passing traffic.
What is included in the overnight rate?
Your rate covers much more than just a bed, breakfast, and dinner.
By staying at Düsternbrook, you contribute—beyond the standard maintenance of rooms, gardens, pools, and the main house—to the entire farm operation: landscape management, game drive roads, wildlife water points, fencing, vehicles, staff, upkeep, and protection of free-roaming animals. In addition, you help maintain a complete solar/battery power backup system to ensure uninterrupted power in case of outages.
Why is a farm stay different from a hotel stay?
On a farm, there is no external infrastructure supporting your experience.
All costs required to maintain peace, space, wildlife, and natural surroundings are borne by the farm itself—and are funded solely through overnight stays and activities such as game drives.
What makes this possible?
This shared responsibility between guest and farm allows what many visitors value most: absolute quiet, clean air, untouched nature, a naturally dark night sky, and wildlife living freely in its natural environment.
Is Düsternbrook the right place for me?
If you are seeking a conventional hotel experience, Düsternbrook may not be the right choice.
If you value tranquillity, authenticity, and nature, and understand that preserving this environment requires ongoing care and investment, then Düsternbrook is exactly the right place for you.
